Inset & Basket Gas Fires
What gas fire should you choose?
Inset gas fires are designed to suit specific fireplaces. For example if your fireplace is cast iron there will be one type of fire to suit it, if it’s a square marble a different fire may suit it better. Gas fires should be evaluated on their heat output, gas input reliability and how realistic their flame picture. Basket fires vary in size and output some can be double sided so the fire can be seen from two rooms. Basket fires generally give less heat than other gas fires and are more for a focal point in the room than a main heat source. We only recommend coal or logs fires for areas burning LPG gas as pebbles or glass will stain or soot up quicker.

How much do they cost to run?
On average gas fires use over a litre of gas per hour to run, some use more others less and their heat output can vary depending on whether it’s a basket fire generating less heat or an inset fire radiating more heat. Your sales consultant can work out average running costs depending on whether your gas supply is by cylinders, bulk tank or  metred estate. More gas fires are now being sold with a glass front as this greatly increases the efficiency of the unit which in turn increases the energy rating of your home.
