As mentioned in the newsflash insert stoves are the winner by a long way. Imagine going form a 20% efficiency open fire thats losing you heat from your home even when your not using it. A lot of your central heating heat flies up the chimney as warm air rises. Even when you have the fire lit your losing 80% of the heat of the fire up the chimney.
The insert convector stove turns that equation on it's head giving you 75-80% of the heat from your fuel to the room and only losing 20-25% up the chimney. Imagine burning 10 euro of fuel and losing 8 of it up the chimney. As well as that if you have no fire on just close off the airways of the stove and now you have stopped 90% of the heat from your central heating being lost up the chimney.
Another added bonus is you don't need to worry about sparks flying out as the stoves glass door allows you to see the fire but keeps the any sparks inside the stove.
I will put some videos up here and on the blog showing the differences between the various stoves soon.
